Measuring plants, sorting and counting seeds, formulating questions for their surveys, gathering and presenting their findings, comparing numbers, constructing models using different shapes, etc are just some of the activities my students have engaged in. A lot of the math activities integrated well with our units of inquiry. This helped my students make connections with other areas of their learning.

Kindergarten Inquiries into Mathematics
Our inquiries into math have led us on a path of discovery that was engaging, sometimes challenging, nevertheless, meaningful and relevant to our learning. The number of opportunities that presented themselves to us learning math through authentic, meaningful and relevant learning engagements, provided a means for my students to deepen their understandings of math concepts, develop the skills needed for solving problems, become critical thinkers and acquire positive attitudes to learning.

Learning never stops
Hello,
Are you a life long learner? Do you believe learning never stops? I do and as such continue to develop as an educator. I have just started a MA in Education and I must say it's made me more appreciative of how much there is to learn. I just created my own blog.... wow!! Never thought I'd do that. Going back to assignments, reading and researching is something I will get used to again. I hate deadlines but then again the ball is in my court.
My journey of learning will enable me to share, reflect and participate in discussions with you, regarding our thoughts, experiences, wonderings, tensions and celebrations.
Teaching a vibrant Kindergarten class of 18 enthusiastic learners, has brought many joys, wonderings and tensions. It has made me realize the importance of collaboration, not just with my peers but my students too. As I walk into my classroom each day, I always wonder what I will learn from my young students. Their questions, wonderings, challenges and achievements is the journey of learning I would like to share, a journey that I hope you will participate in too.
Welcome to my page.
